POEM FOR KERRI 

 JUST A LITTLE MESSAGE FOR YOU FROM ME,
PULLING OFF LIFES BLINKERS IN THE HOPE THAT YOU MAY SEE,
WERE BOTH EMOTIONAL CRIPLES LIMPING ON THROUGH LIFE,#
SCARED AND BLOODY BLEEDING FROM LIFES INVSIBLE KNIFE,
NO-ONE SEES NO-ONE ASKS NO-ONE HEARS,
NO-ONE SEEMS TO STICK AROUND FOR OUR INVISIBLE TEARS,
LACKING IN SELF CONFIDENCE YET KEEPING UP A SMILE,
WALKING THROUGH LIFES WRECKAGES IN THE HOPE WE GAIN A MILE,
WE OPEN OTHERS HEARTS, BUT THROUH AWAY THE KEYS,
HEADS HIGH, WE'RE STANDING TALL, THEY DON'T SEE US ON OUR KNEES,
BROKEN WE ARE UNITED, YET STILL WE'RE ALL ALONE,
WE SHIVER IN THE SHADOWS OUR BODIES COLD AS STONE,
THER'S LITTLE WARMTH IN THIS HEAD HIDING IN A HOOD,
FIGHTING TO TAME OUR DEMOINS WHO TELL US WERE NO GOOD,
ANGER-FRUSTRATION IN YOUR VEINS BUT WHEN YOU CUT I BLEED,
OUT I STRETCH MY HAND TO YOU, TO GRAB WHEN YOU MAY NEED,
NEVER DOUBT MY BEING HERE,
TO WIPE AWAY YOUR TEAR! X

The early years



KERRI COMPTON

Kerri was born on 17th september 1991 at Southlands hospital Shoreham-by-Sea, UK. to Brian & Michele Compton. 
The time was 6.55am exactly. She weighed 5lb 15ozs and was three weeks early. The birth was 45 minutes from start to finish with no complications.
 For 5 days Kerri had no name. In hospital she was just known on her little band as 'baby Compton' Oddly enough the lady in the next bed to me also had the surname Compton.
We brought Kerri home and her dad asked if he could choose her name. I agreed. So Kerri Louise Compton it was....




 



as a baby she had quite bad ezcema, hearing problems, and delayed speech but after some treatment, trip to hospital and speech therapy all was well...

She was a very determined child, we definately knew about the terrible twos and troublesome threes. Her brother was four years older but would always give in to her temper tantrums.  No matter how many times she ruined his games, there was always a special bond between brother and sister.

Kerri has had a lot to cope with in her 15 short years. It doesn't need to be mentioned here. But the two main things are: she has Coates Disease. This is where bleeding occurs at the back of the eye, it needs laser treatment to stop it. However each time the laser treatment is performed, a small part of her sight is lost. She has had laser treatment 3 times now and we have 6 monthly appointments. Her dad would take her to the hospital as I hated to see her go blind as they put the eyedrops in to enlarge her pupils. As a child of about 8 she asked for just one thing if she eventually went blind... Could she please have a guide dog... Bless her.
thankfully it is only in one eye.


The second and most recent event is her beloved dad passed away just 43 years August 21st 2005. it is very hard still for all of us. His memorial site has been made with a lot of love for a special man sadly missed..

Kerri is very artistic and hopefully we can post some of her work here.
She is capable of achieving anything she sets her mind to and I want you to know Kerri I am so very proud of you. She has a brilliant stepmum whom she loves dearly and a halfsister she adores. There are lots of family you can read about them on the other site.
Thankyou to Kerri's auntie Julie who is like yet another mum to Kerri. always there when she needs her.
